just interested in a workaround for this and a fix if it is needed from vista , blizzard or nvidia or is it because my vista will not let me load a driver for my widescreen monitor?

widescreen and hertz unavailable in world of warcraft
Is there a Vista driver available from the monitor manufacturer? You might try an XP driver, some XP drivers work in Vista, some do not.

Except DX10 doesn't really exist yet.
I missed the beginning as this is snipped, but I successfully installed my 37" Widescreen with Vista. I just had to list all the modes and experiment. Oddly, using 59hz worked (60hz didn't!).

I've been looking all over for a solution to this as well. I'm running the following:
nVidia 6800 GT v.8.8.6.1 (their latest for Vista) Sceptre x20 Naga III 20" widescreen - (their latest)
Vista appears to be just fine with all resolutions (even 16:10 format) but World of Warcraft does not recognize any 16:10 resolutions - even though my current desktop settings are 1680x1050.
I cannot find any other details on this. Is it a compatibility issue with DX10 or simply an issue with the current drivers (though according to WoW forums, others with ATI are seeing this as well)? Maybe it's an issue with WoW all together.
I haven't installed any other DX games yet but am suspecting that they will exhibit the same behavior.

I'm having a similar problem but haven't found a solution yet. I have the beta ATI drivers installed and while running Vista normally I can see many resolution options. I have chosen to run at 1164x768 but when I log into WoW it will only allow me to choose these resolutions:
800x600 1024x768 1280x1024
Trying to figure out how to get WoW to display more reslutions....

Same here, except I need 1920 x 1200! I see nVidia has released a newer set of drivers than Vista has packaged with it. Try that out. I JUST uninstalled WOW and I am not going to put it back...I just found these vid drivers too, AHH
